First, thank you Marc (at front desk) for the upgrade – you were right. Everyone should get the Atrium view. If you can, go for the floors higher up. It offers the best views of the everglade scenery and the view at night is amazing. We slept with the balcony doors slightly open and my wife was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waterfall below.
Gaylord Palms Hotel Room Review
Gaylord Palms Hotel Rooms
Choose from a variety of spacious guest rooms and suites perfect for your leisure and/or any needs. It truly is a place for work or play, they have so much going on there and the facilities lends itself to so much. We saw business people, a dance and basketball youth competition and families just enjoying the Atrium.
Our Hotel room:
One king size bed – comfortable and Oh, I slept like a baby.
37-inch flat panel television, as you heard in the video (seen bigger) but nice.
French doors opening to balcony with patio furniture. We spent some time there relaxing over looking the Gaylord Palms Atrium.
Ceiling fan – I don’t even remember if we ever turned it on, room was not cold but comfortable. After all, we had the balcony doors open all the time.
Workstation with ample lighting, coffee and so forth – nice.
Small refrigerator, never used, neither did I use the small safe above it.
Lounge chair with ottoman (for king room only – don’t I feel special).
Conveniently located to restaurants and pools as well as convention center.
King room includes walk-in shower – I loved the shower, I really did. You could tell in the video.
(* Apparently, Double queen guest rooms only include bath tub with shower combo so I am glad I got the King.)
More about Gaylord Palms
Unwind your body, mind and soul at Relâche Spa at Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. Being transparent, it is expensive and on this trip I did not take my wife to the spa. But you can reserve a relaxing massage, rejuvenating facial or calming body treatment in a luxurious atmosphere while experienced estheticians pamper you. You can, but like I said – be ready for an hefty bill.
They have an amazing water park with tube rides, a wave thing I cannot remember the name it is called. Sadly, I was not able to go; the place was packed with kids from the dance and basketball conventions that were going on. Luckily, the water park is on the side of the convention center so it was mostly quiet and relaxing in the atrium. But I plan to return one day to conquer the wave (or fall flat on my face).
Adult Only Pool
This is a new one to me but I love the concept of the “Adult Only” pool at the Gaylord Palms Resort – ingenious. A few kids tried to sneak in but the rules were upheld and enforced. Thank you so much. As you can see by my video, it was calm, relaxing and surreal, as well as a picturesque scene when it all lights up at night.
Hotel Room Review:
You start out your stay in the soaring glass atrium showcasing the landscape of the Everglades, you walk the cobblestone streets and take in the rich history of St. Augustine, the picturesque scenery and vibrant colors of Key West. We got lost, so did many other people (the place is huge). You get wonderful service (I did). I even had a worker stop what he was doing when we got all turned around trying to go back to our car to get our luggage.
However, I have to admit, the Gaylord Palms Resort, as far as it goes (in my opinion) the Atrium view is what makes the room. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great room, not to mention the shower. I love it! With that said, having the atrium view, the lights at night, the sound of the waterfall – that is what makes it an awesome experience.
